The crude coconut oil is first pumped to the COT-1 from the storage tank and oil is heated up to 60 – 700 C by means of the live steam provided in to the Neutralizer, the required quantity of acid is dosed with water and allow this to react for 30 mins and after that raise the temperature to 70 degrees centigrade the required amount of caustic is added to neutralize the free fatty acid. Allow this to react for 10 mins and give a hot water wash, to allow the soap stock to settle. After 4-6 hours’ soap stock is drained of and give a water wash to remove the traces of soap.

The neutralized washed oil is pumped to the Bleacher. Prior to taking charge in the bleacher the vacuum is created in the bleacher with the help of low vacuum equipment through catch all. When the full vacuum is attained in the bleacher, hot oil is sprayed in the bleacher with the help of sprayers under the vacuum. There by evacuating moisture and soap particles coming along with the oil. Simultaneously the agitation is going on in the bleacher to agitate the mass for subsequent drying of the oil. Ones the charge is taken in the bleacher the oil heated gradually by the steam. The mass as being stirred by the agitator when the desired temp. is achieved the mixture of predetermined quantity of fuller earth and activated carbon is sucked in the system with the help of vacuum. After mixing of bleaching agent with oil and simultaneously heating the oil up to desired temp. The bleaching reaction starts and is continued till it is over. The oil earth mixture is then pumped to the Filter Press. The filtered oil from the Filter Press is taken to the BOT by gravity.

The bleached oil is pumped to the deodorizer, where the temperature is raised to 180°C through the highpressure steam. The stripping of odiferous matter will be carried out through live steam. Allow it to continue for about 3-4 hours and draw the samples after every half an hour and check it. The complete operation is carried out under high vacuum
